Robert Morgan, Pastor

Robert is a native of Texas and completed his seminary training at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. During the past 30 years, Robert has served in a variety of ministerial positions in Texas and served as Pastor of First Baptist Church in Joplin, Missouri, prior to his move to Jackson, Tennessee in 2009. He is married to Anna Beth Morgan. She works at Union University in Jackson. They have two grown children living in Texas and Alaska. Michael Morgan who is married to Meagan and the father of one-year-old Ian.  Michael and his family live in Wichita Falls.  Ashlee Morgan lives in North Pole, Alaska where she teaches school.

 Gabe Mudd, Associate Pastor of Children and Youth

Gabe is originally from Fernandina Beach, Florida, and has served in churches in Florida, Alabama and Texas. He has a degree from The Baptist College of Florida, and is completing his Masters in Christian Education from Southwestern Seminary. Gabe has been married to Alexandrea since 2003. Alexandrea is a native of Jackson. They have a son named Aidan who was born July 2009.

Mindy Essary, Music Director

Mindy has lived in Tennessee most of her life and in Jackson for over 30 years. She has a Bachelor’s of Music from Union University where she is a Staff Accompanist in the Music Department. She has been married for 29 years to Terry Essary and has 2 children; Sarah, a freshman music major at Union, and Samuel, a freshman at Madison Academic High School and also has a laughing dog named Jack. She has served at Poplar Heights for 20 years.

Brian Dunn, Worship Leader

Brian is a native of California who has been serving as Poplar Heights worship leader since Sept 2009.  His background is teaching and coaching and he has taught physical education and coached softball at University School of Jackson since 2005.  He coached Softball and Volleyball at Union University from 1996 to 2005.  He is married to Emily Garrett Dunn and they have two children ; Addison (12) and Ashlee (10). He prays that the Lord will be glorified through the worship at Poplar Heights and that the music will draw people to Jesus.

Freida Williams, Administrative Assistant

Freida is originally from Fulton, KY. She graduated from Bruce Business School in Martin, Tennessee. She has worked in sales and catering at hotels in Texas and Jackson, TN., for the past 30 years until she began at Poplar Heights in 2005. Freida is married to Jerry Williams who retired from Ormet Alumimum. They have four children, Chris Powell, Mildenhall AFB, England, Kelly Williams, Humboldt, TN, Craig Powell, Houston, TX, and Allison Burns, St. Louis, MO. They have three grandchildren, Austin Powell, Tyler Burns, and Parker Powell. Freida and Jerry also have a parti pom named Sassy.

Trish Haggard, Publishing Secretary

Trish is a native of Tennessee.  She attended Jackson city schools, graduating from Jackson High School.  She then attended West Tennessee Business College where she received training in the secretarial field.  Trish worked for the Chamber of Commerce and Porter Cable before “retiring” from Procter & Gamble Manufacturing Company after 27 years.  She has been married to Roddy Haggard for 44 years! He retired from Jackson Energy Authority after 34 years. They have a brown and tan 14-year-old dachshund named Dandy. Their son, Brian, and his wife, Michelle, live in Jackson.  Brian is a salesperson for Lance and Michelle is a hairdresser. Roddy and Trish enjoy spending time with their two grandpuppies, Bella (a lab) and Jack (a Jack Russell).
