Thanks for your interest in Poplar Heights Baptist Church. Whether you plan ahead or just drop in on Sunday, please look for a greeter to welcome you at the door. Greeters will help you right where you want to go. Poplar Heights offers a comfortable and welcoming environment. We know your first time at a new church can prompt some questions. The section below includes some of the more common questions.
How do I get to Poplar Heights?
Our church is located at 1980 Hollywood Drive in Jackson, just 1 1/2 blocks south of Interstate 40 (exit 79). Click here for directions.
What should I wear?
We're more concerned with meeting your needs than with what you wear. Most people will dress in casual weekend attire; please dress how you feel comfortable and you'll fit right in.
Tell me about Bible Study and the worship services?
Poplar Heights offers one morning worship service on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. and an evening worship service on Sundays at 6:00 p.m. Children and youth participate in both services along with adults. Nursery care is provided for infants.
What's available for my kids?
Sunday school is available for children and youth of all ages, birth through high school graduation. We also have children's church for 1st grade through 5th graders. After a few worship songs children will be invited to come down for Children's Church and then exit the sanctuary. Children's Church is held in our recreational outreach center. The atmosphere is dynamic, safe and age-appropriate...and most important, it's fun. Kids love it! As soon as you walk in the building, look for a greeter or teacher will help you find everything you need for a great experience.
What should I expect in church?
From the moment you pull into the parking lot, we strive to make you feel at home. Our greeter team will help you find anything you need, including a place for your kids, no matter what age they are. Help yourself to some coffee, and if you're inclined, say hello to the folks around you, or be anonymous if you prefer.
What are the services like?
The services are designed to be engaging, understandable, and compelling. On any given Sunday, you'll hear a mix of different musical styles from a Praise team, choir, and live band. Musical styles include a blend of contemporary worship songs and traditional hymns.
Robert Morgan, Poplar Height's Pastor, is an engaging teacher who helps bring a practical understanding to real-life issues like marriage, parenting, finances, decision-making, emotions and faith. Ultimately, our pastor will seek to draw you into a faithful and growing relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.
